Why you should read this book

Meetings suck, but they don't have to suck. This book gives to anyone a set of tools and ideas to prepare and facilitate meetings in an efficient way.

I wouldn't recommend this book for people who are already workshop facilitators. But I would recommend this book for any office worker who hates meetings and wants tips to make them less like hell.

Key ideas I take with me

  1. The more people you add the more time it will take
  2. Use subgroup work to make meetings more efficient
  3. Pre-meetings can be a great idea, like for preparing workshops
  4. Every meeting should have a divergent and a converging phase. Often I forget the converging phase for shorter meetings
  5. When describing meetings I can write down: Outcome/ Goal, Measure of success, Preparation, Meeting style: sounding board, co creation, feedback, info sharing
  6. At the end of a meeting I could take the time to make everyone write his task in his way and make the summary of the meeting in them
  7. Use Breaks to visualize where we are
  8. I should add in my workshops regular checkin moments with the client or leader
